Mainland A (H1N1) flu cases rise to 915, one death

Updated: 2009-07-02 23:32 BEIJING: The Chinese mainland confirmed 49 new cases of A(H1N1) influenza in the 24 hours ending 6 p.m.Thursday, bringing the total to 915 with one "accidental" death. A 34-year-old woman was found dead at 7:35 a.m. in her ward lavatory at the No. 1 People's Hospital of Xiaoshan District in Hangzhou, capital of east Zhejiang Province, according to local health bureau. The patient was in a recovery stage as her temperature had been normal for a week. She had occasional coughs, but her other flu symptoms had disappeared.
Beijing confirmed 16 new cases, Shanghai found 13 and coastal Guangdong Province registered nine, according to the Ministry of Health. Zhejiang Province had six new cases, Tianjin Municipality and the provinces of Jiangsu, Henan, Liaoning and Sichuan each reported one, according to the ministry. Among the patients, 612 have been discharged from hospitals, 296 were being treated in hospitals and six patients were receiving medical care at their homes, the ministry noted. |
