TEHRAN: Iran hanged three convicted rapists inside a prison on Monday, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
Drug trafficking, murder, rape, adultery, armed rubbery and apostasy are punishable by death under Iran's Islamic sharia law, implemented since the country's 1979 Islamic revolution.
They were hanged after the Supreme Court upheld the verdicts.
Iran is often accused of abuses by rights groups and western governments, but Tehran dismisses the criticism and accuses the west of double standards and hypocrisy.
