Bringing indie music for kids to China

When surfing online, Kanthor noticed a slew of bands around the world making modern music for kids. The bands' fresh melodies, inspiring lyrics and spirited live performances charmed her husband, too.

"We have to bring these bands to China, if only for our own kids to hear," Liu said to his wife, who immediately agreed with the idea.

The couple swung into action.

However, when they started to approach the bands through email, they were unsurprisingly greeted by disbelief as "we'd never done it before, so we had nothing to show for ourselves," Kanthor recalled.

After lengthy, sincere explanation, the duo talked The Lucky Band and Hippe Gasten into the adventure, embarking on their first five-city China tour in May 2017.

The tour blossomed into a success, pumping great confidence into the couple, who have so far signed more than 50 established children's music artists and bands to go on tour in China and Asia.
