Taihe Music Group, one of China's giant record labels, has distributed three albums for children since 2018. Made by renowned composers, the songs are ancient Chinese poems with modern twists.

In October 2019, Taihe inked a deal with GoGoKid, a children's English education brand backed by internet behemoth ByteDance, to distribute its 400 original English children's songs in the future.

"Children's music artists are still thin on the ground in China and I really hope Chinese rockers like Wang Feng will write cool songs for kids and parents just like their western counterparts do," Liu said.

Liu will probably see the realization of his hope soon. Taihe announced a plan in January 2019 to invite famed musicians, such as rock singer-songwriter Zheng Jun, to write music for the country's juvenile audiences.

Yang Xiaoyu contributed to the story.
