Meetings between the two heads of state play a leading role in the bilateral relations, and the summit meeting in San Francisco built on last year's Bali meeting, shaped fresh consensus on top of the previous agreement, and put forward very concrete proposals for the further management of the China-US ties. The outcomes of this meeting include the two presidents' successful push for establishing a broader scope of two-way communication mechanisms to cover a wider range of topics. The two sides resumed some of the established lines of communication in terms of military exchanges. The two sides have worked toward the same goal of more effectively stabilizing relations between the two major countries. The top priority in the next phase is to put the fresh constructive consensus into practice, so as to tangibly achieve the goal of stabilizing the ties, respond to the concerns of the international community, and boost their momentum in yielding more cooperation and positive interactions on international issues.
