Perspectives on the importance of Xi-Biden summit

It's no secret that relations between the United States and China have been tense. There is a competition between our two countries. Both America and China are quickly becoming the most important countries in the world. So I think it's very important that we work together on a lot of the most important challenges.

I've met many Chinese people while I've been here at the APEC meeting. They are all very friendly and very kind. It's very easy to forget the tensions in the international politics between our countries. And I think this is a good thing because it shows that we can work together to address important global issues. I trust that Biden and Xi will be able to come to an agreement and cooperate on issues like climate change, global security, peace, safety, prosperity. I think that both America and China have very skilled diplomats and we both have a mutual interest in working together.
