YICHANG -- At least seven people were killed and two others remained missing in rain-triggered mountain torrents in Hubei province Friday, the local government said.

Torrential floods flushed at about 4 am Friday, hitting a section of a highway under construction in Yichang city and leaving seven dead and two missing.

Rescuers have relocated 60 people stranded by the flood and are searching for the missing people.

At least 51 people were killed and five remained missing since continuous rainstorms and floods hit Hubei on July 3.
