6.3-magnitude quake hits off Japan

TOKYO - An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale on Monday rocked the southwest island of Japan's Okinawa Prefecture, said the Japan Meteorological Agency.

A tsunami alert was issued shortly after the quake, which happened 10:28 p.m. local time (1328 GMT).
