Tsai Kang-yung, a popular talk show host, said the first film he directed will hit big screens around the country on May 27.
Tsai told media and his fans about the film Didi's Dream at Beijing's Sisyphe bookstore on Wednesday.
Starring Dee Shu and Lin Chi-ling, the film is a story about friendship between girls.
It's the first film collaboration by Tsai and Shu, who co-hosted the variety-comedy talk show Kangxi Lai Le, or Kangxi Is Coming, from 2004 to 2015.
"I hope the film can give audience 90 minutes of enjoyment and strength to continue," Tsai said. "The film needs to bring people to a world which is apart from reality."
Born in Taipei in 1962, Tsai went to study in the US and graduated in 1990 with a master's degree in filmmaking at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Tsai taught filmmaking in Shih Hsin University in Taipei before entering the TV industry and becoming a popular talk-show host.
