Jackie Chan will soon "fight" again on China's big screen in his new film, Bleeding Steel. This time, he will perform stunts on the roof of the Sydney Opera House.

In the sci-fi story, Chan plays a special forces agent who teams up with a mysterious hacker, played by Taiwan singer-actor Show Luo, to unravel a thrilling secret, which has been kept under wraps for many years.

The 63-year-old Hong Kong kung fu star again performed death-defying stunts without the use of stand-ins, just as he did in his previous 100-plus films.

Before he climbed to the top of the landmark opera house, several doctors performed health checks to ensure he was in good enough physical condition to undertake the action sequences.

But it still remained a risky challenge.

"The space was very limited. We didn't use 'wires' (to secure performers high above ground). I had to hold on tightly to bars to prevent myself from falling," recalls Chan, during a recent promotional event in Beijing.

The cast also includes Taiwan musician-turned-actress Nana Ou-yang and Australians Tess Haubrich and Callan Mulvey. The movie will be released in Chinese theaters on Dec 22.

The movie was produced by the Beijing-based Heyi Pictures and distributed by Alibaba Pictures.
