2. The beauty of technology: Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge
The UK’s Guardian newspaper regarded the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge as one of "modern society's seven miracles" at the end of 2015. This is not only because of its length or scenery visible on the way; more important is the technology used by the project. It is the first infrastructure product of its kind in the world, integrated bridge, tunnel and artificial land.
Lin Mingzhi, general engineer of the bridge project, said the difficulty of building the bridge is equal to passing the entrance exam to Tsinghua University 33 times in a row.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world, which has profound meaning for Hong Kong, Macao and Zhuhai's economic and social integration. The bridge will cut travel time between Hong Kong and Zhuhai from three hours to just 30 minutes.
