GUANGZHOU - Chimelong Safari Park in the southern city of Guangzhou unveiled an Augmented Reality (AR) mini program to help visitors explore the park.

The intelligent mini program, jointly developed by Chimelong and tech giant Baidu, is expected to improve both the online and offline tour experience.

Tourists can open the Baidu APP and search for the Chimelong AR Zoo. The mini program integrates an audio introduction of the animals, an AR camera, and an AR location guide.

The AR camera provides a live stream of the animals to the app, as well as allows users to upload their own photos of the animals. Combining both the photos and the live stream, the technology can then render an AR image of the different animals.

The AR location guide can accurately pinpoint over 20,000 wild animals of more than 500 species inside the safari park.

Baidu and Chimelong will later develop a mobile payment system and the ability to post travel notes using the mini program.
