Beijing announced preferential policies with 55 detailed measures on Tuesday to promote business cooperation and youth exchange between the city and Taiwan.

According to Taiwan Affairs Office of Beijing, 38 municipal governmental departments have jointly provided convenience services for Taiwan people to invest, launch business and seek jobs in Beijing.

Particularly, the city has offered practical supports on education, employment and residing in the capital.

Yu Fengying, spokesperson of the office, said the high housing price and rents in the capital are the biggest obstacle for young people from Taiwan to work and develop their careers in Beijing.

"The professionals from Taiwan who have been enrolled in the municipal or district talents projects are eligible for the same policies as Beijing residents in housing, education and medical service," she said. "Especially, young people from Taiwan who are working or starting their own businesses in Beijing can apply for public rental apartments which are priced lower than the market level."
