The Legend of 1900 Film Music Concert

Gilda Butta is a piano player with an immense repertoire and an eclectic personality. For many years now, she has collaborated frequently with Ennio Morricone and besides recording original soundtracks, she also follows the production of cultured music, for piano and for chamber. Studying at the Conservatory of Pesaro, Milan and Perugia with Maurizio Gambini and Rocco Filippini, Luca Pincini graduated with maximum votes and the highest praise. Successively, he studied with Siegfried Palm. He has also won the Diploma of Improvement at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia of Rome with Franco Maggio Ormezowsky as well as at the Chigiana Academy of Siena City with Misha Maisky.

Camerata Salzburg & Renaud Capucon Concert

The Camerata Salzburg musicians are "full of revolutionary energy and utopic potential, uncompromisingly individual, daring, and modern - and yet classically stringent", as pronounced by the Salzburger Nachrichten in the occasion of the concert for the 60th anniversary of the orchestra. The distinct musical style of Camerata was formed over a period of six decades through their continuous collaboration with world-renowned musicians such as Bernhard Paumgartner, Geza Anda, Sandor Vegh, Sir Roger Norrington, and Andras Schiff. Throughout its six decades of its existence, Camerata Salzburg made more than sixty recordings, which have been honored with many prestigious awards, revealing its unique art of music making. Its two complete editions of Mozart's piano concertos with the Hungarian pianists Geza Anda and Andras Schiff, and also its complete recording of Mozart's serenades, and divertimenti conducted by Sandor Vegh are milestones in the history of classical recording.

Emmanuel Krivine, Emmanuel Pahud & Orchestre National de France

Emmanuel Krivine is respected as one of the world's most distinguished conductors whose elegant and colorful interpretations have made him a favorite with leading orchestras and soloists around the world. Regarded as one of the foremost French musicians today, Krivine has held a number of important positions in France and in September 2017 took up the post of Music Director of the Orchestre National de France, the orchestra's first French Music Director in over 40 years. He is a passionate educator, who regularly conducts orchestras of young musicians, and in 2004 he created a period-instrument ensemble, La Chambre Philharmonique, now one of the most important groups of its kind. Swiss-and-French flautist Emmanuel Pahud began studying music at the age of six. He graduated in 1990 with the One Prix from the Paris Conservatoire, and went on studying with Aurele Nicolet. He won First Prize at the Duino, Kobe and Geneva Competitions, and at age 22 Emmanuel joined the Berliner Philharmoniker as Principal Flute under Claudio Abbado, a position which he still holds today. In addition, he enjoys an extensive international career as soloist and chamber musician.

Konzerthausorchester Berlin Shanghai Concert

Konzerthausorchester Berlin has gained international acclaim and they arrive in Shanghai with American conductor Lawrence Foster and Ning Feng for a truly exceptional show. Foster is the Music Director of l'Opera de Marseille and has toured across the world; Ning Feng, established at the highest level in China, performs regularly with major international and local orchestra, and has developed a reputation for great lyricism and emotional transparency, displaying tremendous bravura, and awe-inspiring technical accomplishment. American conductor Lawrence Foster is the Music Director of l'Oera de Marseille, a position he has held since 2013. Previously, he has been the music director of Orquestra Simfonica de Barcelona, Orchestre philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, among others. The Gulbenkian Orchestra, whose music director Lawrence Foster has been for ten years, appointed him Conductor Laureate; he has toured this orchestra across the world, partnering with leading soloists such as Lang Lang, including in Germany, Spain, Brazil as well as major festival destinations.

NCPA Opera Aida

Venue: National Centre for the Performing Arts

As one of the most popular masterpieces created by opera master Verdi, Aida is always favored by worldwide opera lovers the vivid characterization and passionate melodies. The creative team is joined by Italian set designer Ezio Frigerio and costume designer Franca Squarciapino, who were creative members of NCPA's production of Nabucco. Aida was premiered in 1871. The plot focuses on the love story between Ethiopian princess Aida and Egyptian hero Radames. At the choice between love and loyalty for defending the country, the couple is indecisive in a dilemma. In order to achieve accurate representation of regional features and cultural characteristics of the whole storyline, Verdi repeatedly went to museums to watch Egyptian antiquities and asked Egyptian experts for advice. He blends the ancient musical materials into the opera presentation with lively and profound understanding. The grand stage set makes it suitable for outdoor auditoriums.

Scottish Dance Theater: Dreamers

The performance contains the following two parts. Dreamers are people who dare to dream while not being asleep. Lachky takes pleasure in making sense from nonsense and exploring links between reality and surrealism. His work is developed around the unique physicality of the performers, highlights the beauty and power of the moving body and intertwines it with his quirky and humorous style. A sensory experience transforming dancers into sleek, androgynous, nocturnal beings guided through shadows by a futuristic techno soundtrack. Pulsating movements capture the universal drive of striving for fulfillment and release. This darkly delightful combination of cutting-edge choreography and club culture leaves you feeling its grip long after the piece is over. Award-winning duo Eyal and Behar have created a stream of critically acclaimed works for some of the world's leading companies including Batsheva Dance, Nederlands Dans Theater and Carte Blanche. Scottish Dance Theatre dancers are known for being exceptionally talented, personable and approachable. The company is an international company based in Dundee, producing world-class work with inclusivity, in all senses, at the forefront. The company has a committed following of Scottish Dance Theatre fans, and is always seeking to build on this audience through innovative audience development and educational work.
