The long-range, twin-aisle passenger aircraft CR929, which is being jointly developed by China and Russia, finished the preliminary demonstration work and determined the main parameters,  such as the shape and sizes of the aircraft, earlier this year, according to its manufacturer.

The wide-body aircraft has entered its initial design phase, and related works have been launched comprehensively, its maker, China-Russia Commercial Aircraft International Co Ltd, said during the ongoing 2018 Airshow China in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong province.

Meanwhile, for the first time, the Zhuhai Airshow is showcasing a model of the CR929's cockpit and part of the fuselage in the same proportion. The interior design features Chinese and Russian characteristics and the model is 6.5 meters high, 5.9 meters wide and 22 meters long.

By 2020, the CR929 aircraft is expected to receive orders, according to a three-year plan for bolstering China's aviation manufacturing industry released by Shanghai local government in May.
