Top 10 best-performing CEOs in China

The Harvard Business Review released its Top 100 Best-Performing CEOs in China list for the third consecutive year in November, evaluating long-term performance of Chinese CEOs. There are 35 newcomers this year, and 43 have been on the list sometime in the past three years. Ninety-six are founders of their companies or are promoted internally, with an average tenure of 15.9 years.
Pony Ma Huateng, chairman and CEO of Chinese IT behemoth Tencent Holdings, topped the list in terms of financial returns. Ma has ranked No 1 financially for three consecutive years. He is also the only entrepreneur from the Chinese mainland who ranked in the Top 100 world's best-performing CEOs over the past three years. Total shareholder return during Ma's tenure reached 49,214.35 percent, bringing the company's aggregate market value in excess of $HK 2.5 trillion.
Forty-nine CEOs on this year's list are from industries including information and technology, real estate and consumer products. Six female CEOs made this year's list, a 50 percent growth compared to last year.
