The person behind the rumor yesterday that Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation would suspend cooperation with Taiwan has admitted that it was false information and apologized.
The media corporation had denied the allegation and on Thursday threatened legal action.
The netizen with the screen name "A€Shengmen" said he/she is not an employee of the media corporation and confirmed that the corporation has never made such decisions. He/she also asked to people to stop sharing the lie.
He/she has spoken with a lawyer representing the corporation and made his/her apologies on Thursday morning, according to a statement from the netizen.
The netizen on Wednesday posted on China's instant messaging app WeChat that the media corporation will suspend all programs produced together with Taiwan and will stop working with performing artists from Taiwan.
Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation denied the rumors and said it will sue the netizen who posted the fake news, according to a statement posted on its official micro-blogging account on Wednesday night.
Jiangsu Bowang Law Firm, which represents the corporation, said in a statement that the netizen fabricated the news that has since gone viral on social media.
