BEIJING -- "UK Day," showcasing British gardening and culture, was observed at the ongoing International Horticultural Exhibition in Beijing Tuesday.

Diverse activities including performances, storytelling, documentary screening and wine tasting were held in the British Exhibition Garden on Tuesday.

Barbara Woodward, British Ambassador to China, attended the event.

"We are very pleased to share our passion for gardens and our commitment to ensuring a harmonious relationship between man and nature," she said.

"We have enjoyed attending the provincial day celebrations and establishing connections with provincial representatives to help us deepen our relations across China," the ambassador said.

Yu Jianlong, vice commissioner of Expo 2019 Beijing and secretary-general of the China Chamber of International Commerce, said the British garden not only showcased the classic style of gardens in Britain but also exhibited Britain's green technology, agricultural sci-tech and clean energy, which have impressed visitors.

The British garden is one of the most popular international gardens at the expo, having welcomed over 830,000 visitors over the past few months.

The Beijing Horticultural Expo, themed "Live Green, Live Better," is the world's largest expo of its kind. It opened to the public on April 29 in Yanqing District and will last until Oct. 7.
