Budapest, Hungary ranks first with the biggest rise in house prices last year, up 21.8 percent, followed by Dali in Southwest China's Yunnan province, registering a growth of 20.2 percent. Six Chinese cities are in the top 10 cities with fastest growth in home prices, according to a report jointly issued by the Hurun Research Institute and Sweetome Group, the China-based leading shared accommodation operator.

The Global House Price Index 2019 was released on Feb 20, and among the top 50 cities from 22 countries all around the world, China has the most cities on the list, with 27 spots, up 5 cities from a year earlier.

In China, house prices in first-tier cities were stable in recent years, with a slight increase, as only Guangzhou ranked 34, while Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen were not in the Top 50.

In contrast, second- and third-tier cities featured significant increases in home prices, with Xi'an in Northwest China's Shaanxi province hitting the highest rise with a total 46 percent in the past three years, followed by southwestern cities Guiyang, Dali and Kunming, which all registered growth of about 35 percent.

In Europe, 16 cities won spots of the list, with Budapest in Hungary ranking first.

"Home prices in eastern Europe saw a rapid increase in 2019, especially in Hungary, Croatia, Russia, Poland and Slovakia," the Hurun Research Institute said.

Hurun also noted that nearly 30 percent of the top 50 cities are from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Let's see the top 10 countries by house prices index.
