NEW YORK - New York State has had the third lowest positivity rate of COVID-19 test among all US states, according to the seven-day rolling average updated on Monday by Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center.
"NY, once the world's epicenter of COVID, has the 3rd lowest rate of positivity 8 months into this fight," tweeted Melissa DeRosa, secretary to NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo and Chairwoman of the NYS Council on Women & Girls.
According to the Johns Hopkins statistics, among 50 US states and District of Columbia, NYS ranked No. 49 with 1.16 percent positivity rate of COVID-19 test, Massachusetts No. 50 with 1.13 percent, and Maine No. 51 with 0.51 percent.
The three US states that topped the Hopkins chart were Iowa with 50.58 percent, Nevada with 37.16 percent and South Dakota with 36.37 percent.
Though NYS now has the third lowest positivity rate of COVID-19 test, the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University so far reported 33,357 coronavirus deaths in the state, the worst among all the states of the country.
