Podcast platform Ximalaya gives new voice to Shigatse people

Popular podcast platform Ximalaya has recently cooperated with the government to start a program cultivating local voices in Shigatse city, Tibet autonomous region, to help rural revitalization.

Since Shigatse is one of the places Shanghai offer partner assistance to, the Shanghai-based company hopes to help local people in Shigatse enlarge their vision and gain more skills.

According to Lingshaoxia, an audio book performer who is also a lecturer at the training, the program is a good opportunity to enhance communication with Tibetan people, and may inspire more of them to pursue fulfilling life through their voices.

"I want to share my experience in the field of voice with others, and make them understand wherever they come from, as long as they love this field and would like to learn, they can gain more choices in life and at work," said Lingshaoxia.

Altogether 68 people, including local students and grassroots officials, have joined the program as the first batch of learners. They have learned basic knowledge about language, skills in dubbing, voice performance and audio editing in nine days.

Learner Li Shiqun from Shigatse said he got to know voice performers when he listened to some audio novels on Ximalaya, and hopes to "bring more happiness to listeners" just like the voice performers he likes online.
