Tibet's maternal, infant mortality rates at record low: White paper

BEIJING -- Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region has seen its death rate of women in childbirth and the infant mortality rate drop to record lows, said a white paper released on Friday.
The death rate of women in childbirth has dropped to 48 per 100,000, and the infant mortality rate to 7.6 per 1,000, said the report titled "Tibet Since 1951: Liberation, Development and Prosperity," issued by China's State Council Information Office.
