There is a Chinese folk adage that says someone lifts a rock only to drop it on his or her own feet. It can be understood as shooting oneself in the foot. It also describes what US Secretary of State Blinken has done.

He stands for people who would have broken the law of Hong Kong, and for those who have been inciting the people of Hong Kong to assemble amid the risk of COVID-19.

He called for "the immediate release" of some, while the reason why those people have been arrested is because they are accused of promoting unauthorized assembly.

Any action which threatens stability and prosperity should be stopped. If we look back at US history, there are many cases.

The Haymarket massacre occurred on May 4, 1886, at Haymarket Square in Chicago. It began as a peaceful rally in support of workers striking for an eight-hour workday. However, according to William Shirer's Memoir of a Life and the Times, police killed protestors and injured several others during the strike.

The Pullman Strike was a nationwide railroad strike in the United States that lasted from May 11 to July 20, 1894. During the strike then-president Grover Cleveland directed the then-attorney-general Richard Olney to deal with the strikers.

William Shirer said the strike was suppressed by killing and violence, and thousands of people were killed.

It raises a question why do people such as Blinken want order in their own state, but keep creating chaos around the world? This is obviously hegemony.

Fortunately, some Americans are objective and frank to US government.

"I call for the immediate release of those arrested or who are being prosecuted, or being prosecuted via extradition hearing, in the US for whistle blowing and/or publishing the government torture program and other crimes, " a Twitter user called Jason Kishineff said.

"It's inspiring to see people of Iraq and Afghanistan come together kick out the US military and private firms. I call for immediate withdrawal now. Thank you." A Twitter user called Yasar K. tweeted.

"Let's protect Freedom of the Press by dropping all charges against Julian Assange," a Twitter user called Susan Oehler wrote.

Many Americans actually stand against what Blinken and which is not for creating chaos in Hong Kong or other places around the world, and with Chinese people. Blinken should help the COVID-19 situation, and stand with American people fighting against COVID-19.

Is it really in US' interests if Hong Kong becomes a city of turmoil? The answer definitely is no.

If Blinken and other US officials believe playing political game will ring Hong Kong's bell, they are wrong. They should read Ernest Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" poem: No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

The world is a whole, and there is no winner in the zero-sum game.
