Global accounting firm PwC announced at the ongoing fourth China International Import Expo that it will invest 8 billion yuan ($1.25 billion) and create 20,000 new jobs in China over the next five years.

"China continues to perform remarkably well despite ongoing global challenges," said PwC Asia Pacific and China Chairman Raymund Chao. "We will continue to support and contribute to China's major national strategies to drive towards an enduring outcome of continued growth and development for its economy."

"We will create over 20,000 new jobs by 2026, as part of our efforts to scale up in a number of strategically important areas, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) and digital. We believe these areas will drive China's future growth," Chao said.

PwC China said it will rapidly expand the use of cutting-edge technologies and extend all its services to meet the complex challenges facing businesses and society.

In particular, it will prioritize investments in five key strategic areas: digital redesign, digital products and solutions, ESG, regional economic clusters, and workforce of the future.

Chao added they are dedicated to helping clients to grasp the big opportunities under China's new development paradigm, and bringing the best of people, capabilities and technologies together to support clients and stakeholders in building trust and delivering sustained outcomes for their businesses and also for society.
