Prisoner who escaped from Jilin captured

Zhu Xianjian, a prisoner who has escaped from prison in Northeast China's Jilin province for over 40 days, was captured by local police on Sunday morning, according to the Jilin Municipal Public Security Bureau.
Zhu broke free from prison by climbing over a shed and then the outer wall during the dusk on Oct 18.
Local police had been searching for Zhu since his escape and issued a reward for information that may lead to him. The reward was increased from 100,000 yuan ($15,600) to 700,000 yuan.
Zhu committed several crimes in Tumen city, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Jilin province, in July 2013. The court of Yanji of the prefecture sentenced him to 11 years and three months in prison and fined him 16, 000 yuan over the crimes of illegally crossing the border, theft and robbery in March 2014. He later served his sentence in Jilin prison.
According to China Judgments Online, Zhu’s sentence had been commuted in 2017 and 2020 to 14 months, and he is scheduled for release in August 2023.
