On the Lunar New Year's Eve, the Tokyo Tower in Tokyo was lit in red, showing Chinese characters meaning future, to bring love, peace, warmth and hope to those battling the COVID-19 pandemic as well as sending wishes to Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games and the Winter Paralympics.
This is the fourth time that the Tokyo Tower has appeared red on the Lunar New Year's Eve.
On Jan 31, 25 children from five art schools from China and Japan held a show in front of the landmark. At the same time, a music video Believe in the Future was released. Featuring Chinese and Japanese music elements, the music video, gathering creative members including Chinese songwriter Ma Jiuyue and producer Bian Liunian, was based on a Japanese song Future written by Ryuichi Sugimoto, which expresses people's resolution and confidence to combat the pandemic and blessings for the future of human beings.
Japanese table tennis star Ai Fukuhara was the host of the event.
