China-Russia relations, which are based on the principle of forming partnerships rather than alliances and not targeting any third party, are mature, stable and resilient, China's top legislator Li Zhanshu said on Friday.

Under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, China and Russia have strongly supported each other in safeguarding their respective sovereignty, security and development interests, Li said.
The two countries' legislative institutions should make it a priority to implement the top leaders' consensus during their exchanges, Li said, and called on the two sides to push forward the implementation of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation from a legislative respective and boost the bilateral relationship.
The two countries' legislative bodies should also jointly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core as well as the international order, underpinned by international law and the basic norms governing international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, he said.
Matviyenko said the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era has continued to develop under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state and the Federation Council is willing to deepen cooperation with China's National People's Congress.
