S.Korean president's approval rating logs 52.1 pct: poll

SEOUL - South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating logged 52.1 percent last week, a weekly poll showed Monday.

It was the first weekly survey since Yoon took office on May 10, according to local pollster Realmeter.

The negative assessment on Yoon's conduct of state affairs stood at 40.6 percent last week.

Support for the ruling conservative People Power Party gained 2.0 percentage points over the week to 50.1 percent last week.

The main liberal opposition Democratic Party won 38.6 percent of support score last week, up 0.8 percentage points from a week earlier.

The minor progressive Justice Party garnered 2.7 percent of support last week.

The results were based on a survey of 2,528 voters conducted from last Monday to Friday. It had plus or minus 1.9 percentage points in margin of error with a 9-percent confidence level.
