Shanghai's culture and tourism administration announced on Tuesday that major outdoor tourist spots in the city will resume operations in an orderly manner.
Eight outdoor tourist locations in the districts of Fengxian, Jinshan and Chongming were the first in the city to be opened to the public as part of a trial that started before May 31. Authorities said the positive feedback received during the trial had formed the decision to open more tourist spots in the city.
Starting on June 1, grade A tourism facilities that are outdoor or where outdoor resources account for at least 50 percent of the total area can open their doors to the public, said authorities.
Shanghai has 134 grade A tourism facilities, 89 of which are mainly located outdoors.
Tourist attractions in enclosed spaces will be able to reopen when the epidemic situation further improves.
Authorities added that cross-province tourism services will resume when the entire city has no medium-high-risk area, according to the country's epidemic prevention and control regulations.
