Procuratorate approves senior official's arrest

The Supreme People's Procuratorate has approved the arrest of Yu Luming, former vice-chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in a suspected bribery case, a statement issued by the top procuratorate on Friday said.
The National Supervisory Commission had transferred the case to the procuratorial organ after concluding its investigation.
Yu, 61, a native of Beijing, joined the Communist Party of China in 1992. He has worked in Beijing's healthcare system for many years. The country's top anti-graft bodies, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the NSC, placed him under investigation in April, after which he was expelled from the Party and removed from his office in July 2022, said a statement issued by CCDI and NSC in early July.
In another development, Wang Minghui, a vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, was expelled from the Party and removed from his post over serious violations of Party discipline and national law, said a statement issued by CCDI and NSC on Friday.
Wang, 62, a native of Sichuan province, started working in 1977 and joined the Party in 1980. He became the vice-chairman in 2020, and was placed under investigation in January 2022.
In addition, Xie Jilai, a vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of Hebei Provincial People's Congress, was expelled from the Party over serious violations, said another statement issued by CCDI and NSC on Friday.
Xie, 69, a native of Hebei province, began working in 1972 and joined the Party in 1980. He became the vice-chairman in 2011 and was placed under investigation in January this year.
