An economic and trade delegation from Northeast China's Jilin province on Monday set off from Hunchun Land Port to carry out a five-day economic and trade exchange activity in the Russian Far East, according to the provincial commerce department.

It marks an important step from the province in promoting opening-up and cooperation on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, the department said.

The delegation consists of more than 30 foreign trade enterprise representatives and relevant government staff members who will carry out a series of activities, including commodity trade, international logistics, biotechnology, food processing and digital economy mainly in Primorsky Krai.

The local business department of Primorsky Krai attached great importance to the delegation and has arranged special personnel for preparing the cooperation needs of Chinese enterprises in advance.

It is the first economic and trade delegation to visit Russia after the resumption of the passenger passage of the Hunchun port, which will play an important role in building a window of opening to the North and a center of cooperation in Northeast Asia, according to the department.

Sharing a border with Russia, Jilin has a border prospect of economic and trade cooperation with Russia under the new situation and new opportunities.

In the first 11 months of 2022, the province saw an increase of 74 percent on import and export of goods to Russia, reaching a new record high, the department said.

In the next step, the province will focus on actively participating in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic corridor, constantly strengthening communication and contact with relevant regions in Russia, further expanding new channels of opening up to the outside world, continuing to build a high-level cooperation platform, and constantly improving the level and space of economic and trade cooperation with Russia.
