Four paintings by Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510) from the Uffizi Galleries in Florence, Italy, were unpacked on Friday at the Bund One Art Museum in Shanghai.

Adoration of the Magi, Madonna and Child with Young Saint John the Baptist, Portrait of a Young Woman "Simonetta Vespucci" and Pallas and the Centaur, are among 10 original paintings by the Renaissance master that will be shown in Shanghai during the exhibition Botticelli and the Renaissance, which will run from April 28 to Aug 27.

A total of 48 original paintings by Botticelli and his contemporaries from the Renaissance period will be presented at the exhibition, the second held after a 2021 agreement between Tix-Media and the Uffizi Galleries where the two agreed to jointly present 10 exhibitions at the museum in Shanghai over the subsequent five years.

Curator Daniela Parenti from the Uffizi Galleries said the exhibition is unusual because these are old paintings created in the 15th century. Some of them were painted on panels that are very delicate. "We have checked the panels to choose which paintings can travel," she said.
