The wax figure of Su Yiming, China's first Olympic champion in men's snowboard big air, was unveiled in the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Beijing on April 21.
The wax figure is depicted in a green snowsuit and standing on a snowboard. The figure mirrors the expression and movement of Su when he successfully landed after executing an 1800-degree spin in the air in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
When asked about the selection of this particular pose for his wax figure, Su said that he chose this pose and expression to immortalize the defining moment of his triumph at the Olympic Games.
"It was an extraordinary moment in my life. Through this wax figure, I aspire to inspire others with my passion and unwavering commitment to snowboarding. I hope this will motivate everyone to pursue their own passions with perseverance."
Su's wax figure is capable to produce sound. This is the first time that the museum has incorporated an audio element into one of their figures, creating an interactive exhibit that is capable of producing sound.
"Our museum is dedicated to preserving iconic moments through their wax figures and inspire visitors with the influence of exemplary figures. With the inclusion of the wax figure of Su, a young and promising athlete, we aim to inspire a larger group of young visitors," said Wang Rui, chief manager of the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Beijing.
