To incentivize innovation and cultivate talent, the 2022 Chambroad Science and Technology Award Ceremony and the Fifth Industry-Education Integration Development Forum was held on Friday in Danzhou, Hainan province.

Academician Liu Zhongfan from Peking University received the 2022 Chambroad Science and Technology Excellence Award for his groundbreaking work in graphene materials. His research clarified the fundamental principles of controllable graphene growth and addressed key technological challenges in the industry. "His accomplishments include spearheading the international development of high-quality graphene raw materials and equipment and pioneering the application of graphene in cutting-edge national defense technology," according to the judging committee.

Academician Fan Chunhai from Shanghai Jiaotong University won the 2022 Chambroad Science and Technology Innovation Award for his contributions in biosensing. He proposed the "framework nucleic acid" concept and developed a novel approach to orderly constructing biosensing interfaces. This breakthrough "addresses the long-standing challenge of low molecular recognition efficiency at biological interfaces and enables highly sensitive nucleic acid sensing and live cell imaging", said the judges.

Professor Liu Lei from Tsinghua University earned the 2022 Chambroad Science and Technology Progress Award for his contributions in discovering the protein hydrazide linkage reaction and exploring a novel method for the efficient chemical synthesis of proteins. "This method has gained widespread use in academia and industry," the committee said. "He successfully synthesized a series of proteins, which have found extensive applications in biochemistry, synthetic biology and protein medicine."

Li Nengxu and his supervisor Zhou Huanping, both from Peking University, conducted research on "Controllable Preparation of High-quality Perovskite Thin Films and High-Performance Photovoltaic Devices", offering scientific insights and innovation for high-efficiency and high-quality industrial applications. Along with 49 other PhDs and their supervisors, they won the 2022 Chambroad Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials.

Funded by Shandong Chambroad Holding Group Co and jointly established with the Chinese Chemical Society since 2019, the Chambroad Science and Technology Award aims to foster innovation in chemistry, chemical engineering and materials, unite research resources, promote technological advancements and facilitate industrial transformation.

Meanwhile, the Industry-Education Integration Development Forum seeks to foster industry-education integration through innovative methods. It also aspires to promote morality, develop talent, cultivate professionals, and incubate scientific research outcomes, in the pursuit of advancing the high-quality development of the industry, according to Chambroad.
