Russia is setting to prepare a new national program for data economy development in the next 7 years, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.

Putin said he had proposed to develop within a year a new national project at governmental level to create a data economy for the period up to 2030.

"I emphasize that this is not only about consolidating existing tools to support the development of the digital economy, artificial intelligence and high-tech projects, but also about including road maps on the development of quantum technologies, which companies with state participation are trying to put into practice today," the Russian leader noted.

Making the remarks at the first Future Technology Forum in Moscow, Putin stressed the need to build a holistic mechanism for the creation and widespread implementation of advanced developments.

According to him, the new national initiative should "cover all stages and levels of work".

The Russian President reaffirmed that Russia will continue to develop and will refuse to isolate itself due to the collective Western sanctions.

"I considered it important to talk about how we build our work at the state level, how we build international scientific and technological cooperation in the conditions of the actual blockade of Russia announced by the authorities and the ruling elites, most likely the elites of some countries."
