Li Xingchang's family began making Pu'er tribute tea during the reign of Emperor Yongzheng (1723-35). As the eighth generation with expertise in the process, Li's whole life has been involved with Pu'er tea, which he says is "part of his life".
Pu'er tea is an age tea produced in Yunnan province. The city of Pu'er took its name from the tea after it won the imperial court's imprimatur several hundred of years ago.
In mid-September, the Cultural Landscape of the Old Tea Forests of the Jingmai Mountain in Pu'er was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
