The first domestically produced surgical robot, da Vinci Xi, was recently introduced at the Gansu Branch of the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center in Lanzhou, Gansu province, marking a breakthrough for the hospital in minimally invasive surgery.

With the assistance of this surgical robot, Liu Zhuowei and his team successfully performed a partial kidney removal surgery.

Liu said that operating with the surgical robot offers several advantages, including smaller incisions, less pain, shorter recovery times, and fewer days of hospitalization.

Additionally, the surgical robot operation minimizes trauma and scarring, allowing patients to emerge from the operating room with less visible marks. Patients who are concerned with aesthetic results can maintain their sense of dignity and well-being.
