Liu Lixian, former official of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, was expelled from the Communist Party of China for severely violating the disciplines, the country's top anti-corruption bodies said on Friday.
The removal was announced by the the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission in an online statement.
After an investigation, Liu, former member of ICBC's Party Committee and secretary of the bank's discipline inspection commission, was found to have betrayed his ideas and beliefs, and illegally obtained an overseas identity and concealed it for a long time, the statement said.
While illegally accepting tourism activities, gifts and expense cards, Liu was also discovered to have had long-term use of vehicles belonging to those he managed and served, it said.
He illegally sought benefits for others in employment and job promotion, and accepted money or other assets in return, it said.
He also interfered in market economic activities, taking advantage of his position to make profits for others in case handling and business operation, it said, adding that he has seriously damaged the image of the discipline inspectors.
Considering Liu's behaviors are severe violations of the CPC's rules, the commissions made the decision to remove him from the Party, with confiscation of his illicit gains.
Because some of his alleged actions are considered crimes, the commissions added that they will hand over the case to prosecutors for further review.
Liu was placed under disciplinary and supervisory investigation in September last year, and it was Liu who turned himself in for the investigation.
Liu once served as the deputy director of the former General Administration of Anti-Corruption and Bribery under the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
He became the vice-president of the China Huraong Asset Management since September 2003 and has been the secretary of the discipline inspection commission of ICBC since October 2005. In July 2013, he served as the executive director of ICBC.
