China's latest efforts to advance the high-quality development of e-commerce in rural areas will support the digital economy's expansion and boost consumption in its rural markets, said the Ministry of Commerce.

To align with the development trend of the digital economy, the government has recently rolled out a guideline to boost the high-quality growth of e-commerce in its rural areas, said the ministry in an online statement.

The new policy proposes 14 detailed measures in six aspects, including building a multi-level rural e-commerce comprehensive service platform, accelerating the construction of a modern logistics and distribution system, and fostering diversified new e-commerce entities in rural areas.

The ministry will help facilitate the construction of county-level live-streaming e-commerce bases, amid the country's efforts to comprehensively promote rural revitalization, said the head of the ministry's department of circulation industry development.

These initiatives are designed to tackle the challenges faced by rural e-commerce operations, and stimulate the transformation and advancement of rural commercial and trading businesses via technological and application innovation, said the official.
