Addressing the event, Milos Vucevic, deputy prime minister of Serbia and minister of defense, said the project serves as a testament to the ironclad friendship between China and Serbia and highlights the collaboration between Chinese contractors and their Serbian counterparts.

"This is Serbia's leap toward the future," he said. "It represents our distinctive journey toward the future, guiding us forward. It represents the modernization of Serbia."

Li Ming, China's ambassador to Serbia, said the Serbian section of the Hungary-Serbia railway paved a path to success, prosperity, and the future for the Serbian people and Sino-Serbian bilateral relations.

As the project entered its final crucial stage, the ambassador expressed hope that its builders from both sides will continue to closely cooperate and make persistent efforts, contributing to Serbia's economic and social development, China-Serbia relationships, and the high-quality development of the Belt and Road.
