Local contribution

In addition to innovation efforts, Brown highlighted that the company's localization practices have also contributed significantly to its achievements in China. These practices include establishing manufacturing in the country through local licensees and growing on-site teams.

"If the products are manufactured in China, customers can visit the suppliers, they can go to the production lines, they can insist on particular processes, quality, or volume. This is what gives the handset makers real confidence," he explained.

"Historically, technology companies have been very nervous (about transferring production processes to China) from an IP perspective. Over the last 10 years, my impression is that China has moved to a position where it is not just a place of manufacturing, but it is more and more doing its own creativity," he added.
