Not only does the team focus on finless porpoise, but they also observe the Yangtze River's Sturgeon (Dabry's Sturgeon), reeves shad, mullet and other precious, endangered aquatic wild animals.

Yu mentioned that most of the 16 patrol team members grew up being boatmen. However, they turned into caregivers who feed and safeguard the finless porpoise now.

Further efforts will release two small finless porpoises to the Poyang Lake ecology protection zone and translocate more finless porpoises, said Yu.
