Beijing called on Friday for heightened cooperation between China and Australia, as a report illustrated that trade with China has brought huge benefits to the average Australian household.

The Australia China Business Council released a report in June that found that Australia's trade and economic relationship with China in the fiscal year 2022-2023 increased Australian household disposable income by an average of $2,600, supported around 595,600 jobs in Australia and contributed to a lower cost of living for Australians.

"The facts and figures in the report demonstrate mutually beneficial and win-win nature of economic and trade ties between China and Australia and once again prove that China's development constitutes opportunities rather than challenges to Australia," Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told a daily news briefing on Friday.

China and Australia, highly complementary in their economies, are natural partners for cooperation, Lin said.

China is further deepening comprehensive reforms and promoting Chinese modernization, which will bring more cooperation opportunities between the two countries, he added.

By shoring up cooperation, the two countries can transform complementary advantages into a strong driving force for common development, Lin said, adding that it is beneficial for maintaining the stable and unhindered global industrial and supply chains.

It is also conducive to injecting more positive energy into the sustained recovery of the economies of both countries and beyond, he said.

China is willing to work with Australia to foster new growth drivers and expand mutually benefit and win-win cooperation to better benefit the peoples of both countries, the spokesman said.
