More than 450 civil aviation professionals from 23 countries, including government officials, airline representatives, and research experts, recently convened in Beijing for the 2nd Asia-Pacific Aviation Safety Seminar, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
The seminar, jointly organized by the CAAC, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), and the Flight Safety Foundation on Tuesday, focused on addressing aviation safety challenges, sharing best practices, and exploring innovative management strategies.
In his opening remarks, China’s Transport Minister Li Xiaopeng emphasized the vital role of the civil aviation industry in modern transportation and its importance in fostering a more open global economy.
He highlighted that the Asia-Pacific is the largest and fastest-growing aviation market, contributing over 50 percent to global air passenger growth this year.
Li reaffirmed China’s commitment to collaborating with other nations to prioritize safety, sustainable development, and industry resilience for mutual benefit.
Song Zhiyong, head of the CAAC, detailed China’s efforts to enhance safety management, bolster professional teams, and improve legal governance. He called for increased international cooperation to cultivate a more open and constructive safety culture and to support high standards of safety and quality in the global aviation sector.
According to the CAAC, China’s civil aviation sector experienced a 9 percent increase in passenger traffic and an 18.7 percent rise in cargo and mail transport in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2019. The annual passenger transport volume is anticipated to reach 700 million, setting a new historical record.
