Hilton opened its 700th hotel in Chongqing municipality on Friday, underscoring the company's rapid expansion in China, said its top executive.

This move comes less than a year after the company opened its 600th property in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, highlighting Hilton’s growth strategy in the dynamic travel markets.

The 700th property, Conrad Chongqing, marks the brand’s debut in the city. The group also announced on Friday the establishment of its West region office in China to further support the expansion.

This expansion reflects the hotelier's commitment to providing mid-to-high range hospitality services tailored to lifestyle travelers in emerging urban areas.

China remains a pivotal market for Hilton's strategic growth and is its second-largest market globally.

At present, the group has a presence in over 240 destinations nationwide, with its portfolio of 10 brands.

In the first half of 2024, Hilton introduced its brands to 25 new locations across the country, including cities such as Changshu in Jiangsu province, Guilin in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and Rizhao in Shandong province.

Qian Jin, president of Hilton Greater China and Mongolia, said, "We have added more than 100 new hotels to our portfolio every year for five consecutive years.”

"We look forward to further enriching the travel experience with enhanced digital services, cost-efficient innovations, and strong local insights."

Hilton's growth in China has been driven by its wide offerings, particularly in the mid-to-high-end hotel segments. Hilton is also expanding its lifestyle hotel brand network, including new agreements for Canopy by Hilton properties in Shanghai, aimed at appealing to travelers who are inclined to locally inspired experiences.

Hilton's luxury portfolio in China, which currently includes about 20 hotels under the Waldorf Astoria and Conrad brands, is set to double over the next decade.
