Emergency measures in place for Typhoon Yagi

Typhoon Yagi, the 11th typhoon of this year, has the potential to become the strongest typhoon to make landfall in Hainan province, Hainan Daily reported.

The storm boasts maximum sustained winds near the center exceeding 68 meters per second, equivalent to a level 17 on the scale. It is approaching the southern Chinese provinces of Hainan and Guangdong, with its eye situated about 170 kilometers east of Wenchang city in Hainan province as of 7 am on Friday.
