The Zhejiang Traditional Orchestra staged its new piece Between Waters and Mountains on Sept 29 at the China National Opera House in Beijing, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Composed by Wang Danhong, the music piece features six chapters portraying the beautiful natural landscapes of Zhejiang province and its people.

Wang spent three years traveling in Zhejiang for inspiration. She combined local folk music elements with contemporary music in her composing style.

The piece premiered in Hangzhou, the provincial capital, in May 2023. This year, the orchestra launched a nationwide tour to support the new piece, visiting various cities, such as Zhuhai in Guangdong province, Yinchuan in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region and Taiyuan in Shanxi province.
