A total of 258 foreign-funded companies appeared on the four lists of top 100 foreign-invested enterprises for 2023 covering the categories of sales revenue, imports and exports value, tax contribution and job creation, according to a report published on Tuesday.
Companies on the lists accounted for 33 percent of the total sales revenue generated by companies in the annual foreign investment report in the city, 47 percent of imports and exports, 34 percent of taxation, and 18 percent of employment, reported Jiefang Daily, citing the report on Shanghai's top 100 foreign funded companies published on Tuesday.
Compared with last year's report, the number of companies on the four lists was the same, with little change seen in the top three companies, showing the stable operation of Shanghai's foreign companies, said Huang Feng, chairman of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Association, which publishes the annual ranking.
Apple Computer Trading (Shanghai) Co Ltd was rated first in the revenue list, Tech-Com (Shanghai) Computer Co Ltd topped foreign companies in imports and exports, Porsche (China) Motors Ltd took the lead in tax list, while Fast Retailing (China) Trading Co Ltd offered the most jobs.
By origin, 83 enterprises on the lists come from the US, followed by 32 from Japan and 28 from Germany.
By industry, the top three sectors are wholesale and retail, manufacturing, and leasing and business service, said Huang.
