The European Union's industrial policy for lithium batteries, photovoltaic products and electric vehicles under the guise of green transition may jeopardize global development, according to a blue book issued on Saturday.
The policy may threaten the stability of the global industrial supply chain, intensify the global subsidy race and impede the efficient use of global resources, the document unveiled.
The blue book, titled "The EU's Industrial Subsidy Policy for Lithium Batteries, Photovoltaic Products and Electric Vehicles in the Name of Green Transition", was released by the WTO Law Research Society of China Law Society and the Center for WTO Legal Studies of China University of Political Science and Law.
EU's related policy may undermine the development of similar industries in other countries and harm its own interests, the blue book said.
It represents a double-standard protectionist approach and violates WTO rules.
The EU lithium batteries, photovoltaic products and electric vehicles industry policy has a long history and has become a strategic development objective.
The bloc has issued a number of industrial policies involving those products and implemented all-round subsidies.
The dual channels of EU subsidies for those industries consists of the EU budget, member state funds and other support, the blue book said.
