The international digital art competition Da Show was launched in Beijing on Dec 18.
The competition is hosted by Sun Media Group, Lenovo and Macao-based Nam Kwong (Group) Co. It focuses on the intersection of technology and art and aims to gather global creative talent to promote the integration of digital art and technology industry, according to Ding Zhaochen, a digital media art professor with Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology who is responsible for the competition's operations.
The competition will bring together top artists to explore the unlimited possibilities of artistic expression through interactive installations, digital media art, VR and AR, showcasing the cutting-edge achievements of art and technology, Ding says.
The competition is part of the Hengqin-Macao International Digital Art Expo that will be staged in May next year in both Hengqin of Guangdong province and Macao.
The expo will showcase the world's leading artificial intelligence technology companies and innovative digital art and design works, says Yang Lan, chairperson of Sun Media Group.
As an important part of the expo, the Da Show competition is an exploration and practice of the harmonious coexistence of technology and art.
"We hope that through the competition, we can not only showcase the cutting-edge integration of art and technology, but also witness digital artists from around the world presenting us with a dual feast of visual and intellectual delight with their talent and passion," Yang says.
The competition will collect works in digital fashion design, virtual fashion presentations, virtual character design, digital architecture design, virtual scene construction, short films, animation works, digital music creation, music visualization, and future-facing digital art. Outstanding works from the competition will be exhibited at the expo.
